One of the most effective and comprehensive ways to prepare for NARHA instructor certification is to attend a course at a NARHA center offering an Approved Training Course (ATC). These carefully screened training sites have developed an intensive education curriculum that educates participants and offer classroom learning and hands-on experience with horses and riders. Offered for both the Registered and Advanced Certification, the courses are particularly effectives and user friendly in that they culminate with an opportunity to complete the NARHA certification as part of the program. While many NARHA centers offer instructor training courses, only those listed below as Approved Training Courses offer the certification as part of the experience.
NARHA ATCs have been evaluated by NARHA for content and relevance. Their curriculum is extensive and highly recommended for anyone intending to make equine assisted activities and therapies an important part of his/her life. The courses provide a thorough foundation for those with little previous experience in the field of therapeutic riding.
In some cases, training courses are offered through colleges or universities and may take several months or even years to complete. Others are offered at NARHA Premier Accredited Centers and may last a few weeks to several months. Instructors interested in an Approved Training Course may contact the Approved Training Course directly to obtain information on course fees, schedules and entrance requirements.
