EFMHA Objectives

Objectives 

  • Establish and disseminate functional terminology for Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP), Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL), and other mental health services that include equines.
  • Continue to develop and disseminate standards and safety guidelines for EFP, EFL and other mental health services that include equines.
  • Prepare and continue to develop a curriculum to train NARHA Instructors/equine professionals to assist mental health professionals who practice EFP.
  • Catalog the body of research related to the practice of EFP, EFL and other mental health services that include equines.
  • Continue the strategic planning process for the evolution of the Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association.
  • Develop and implement a certification process for mental health professionals who practice EFP and other mental health services that include equines.
  • Develop a certification process for Education Professionals who teach EFL.
  • Promote education through workshops, networking, newsletters, and other publications.
