Nebraska
News from HETRA
Can you believe
it, this month is half over! At HETRA we had a busy July, with no slowing
down for August or September.
We held our first 5-day camp at our two facilities and it was a SUCCESS. The
students participated in some crafts(for those wonderful 100 degree Nebraska
days!), cleaning stalls and tack, learning parts of the horse, how to
halter, lead, and tie a horse and of course RIDING!!
August 26, 2006 is our annual “Little Britches Horse Show”. The show bill
can be found on our website at
www.hetra.org. Speaking of Horse Shows, I did get a chance to watch a
few classes at Sunrise EquiTherapy’s Horse Show on July 9th in Lincoln. I
think everyone had a great time, the weather was great, nice and sunny, no
rain!!!
September 10 is the date for our Trial Ride at Cunningham Lake in Omaha.
Last year we had over 110 registered riders. Our thanks to Northwest Feed
and Grain, Washco Feed and Supply, and Purina Mills for sponsoring brunch
this year!
September 11-17 is our Open House and Student Ride-A-Thon. This is always
fun to see the students bring their extended families to watch them ride.
It’s great to see all the smiles around the arena; we always have a barn
full of guests.
More information about all of our events can be found on HETRA’s website!

Plans forming for NE State meeting
What are your thoughts on a State Conference date? I have been in
contact with Sherry Jarvis,
www.heartinyourhand.com, about doing a day clinic – with a twist! There
are numerous clinics scheduled all year long, and we try to find time to fit
these into our busy schedules. But, I know I don't spend enough time
focusing on the horse and reflecting on why I love working with these
animals. Sometimes life gets stressful, so I am looking forward to taking an
opportunity to take a break and reflect on the wonderful animals.
My question for you - Do you have time to fit an inspirational and
motivational speaking engagement at the HETRA barn into your busy
schedules?? A time to reflect on horse and human relationships?? What does
the month of November look like for everyone?? I know the National
Conference is the 8th (second week of Nov.), I thought if we held it after
that date, maybe the 18th (the third weekend), then those that attended the
conference can also share what they learned. Unfortunately, Sherry is
already booked for the months September and October. And then we are already
into the month of December, maybe the first week? Is this too late in the
year for your centers, if so, does this sound like an idea for next year??
Take Care,
