Iowa Meeting

NARHA IOWA STATE MEETING

 The meeting was called to order at 12:20 p.m. by Marilyn Moore.  It was attended by representatives from Miracles in Motion, Harmony Ranch, Great Strides, One Heart and ASPIRE.

Center Reports:

Miracles in Motion has 100 participants per week.  They are in the process of constructing an outdoor arena with a pavilion and a sensory trail.  They have 2 new instructors in training.  Miracles will be holding an Instructor Workshop in August.

Harmony Ranch is constructing their own outdoor arena so they will no longer have to travel for classes.

Great Strides will be holding their benefit horseshow on June 25^th from 9:00 to 5:00 at their local fairgrounds.

One Heart is in their 5^th year of operation.  They ride at their local fairgrounds serving 24 riders per week.  One Heart has begun training an instructor to do harness classes.  They recently received a donated acreage.  One Heart is working on their website.  They will have printable trading cards.  They have started a pilot program in Equine Facilitated Psycho Therapy.  One Heart extends a thank-you to Miracles in Motion for helping them in testing a pony.  They would also like to extend a thank-you to the well established programs for all their support.

 ASPIRE  recently completed a feasibility study with the help of students at UNI.  It found that the need more community awareness before starting a capital campaign for a new facility.  ASPIRE’s annual dance and auction grossed $43,000 with a net of around $30,000.  Their annual Pancake Breakfast to benefit ASPIRE’s Camp Hope will be held on July 9.   ASPIRE is already in the planning stages of holding a fall fund raising event on October 6, 2007 called Dances With Horses.   ASPIRE serves 100 participants including Camp Hope.

 The 2007 Regional Conference is set for February 16^th through the 18^th at the Five Sullivan Brothers Center in Waterloo, Iowa.  One speaker suggestion was Dr. Ken  Jacobson.  ASPIRE has asked for assistance in filling the goody bags, speaker suggestions, and game ideas.
