From 1978 - 1995 I was employed at a Saddlebred farm - working with the
fine harness and roadster horses. From 1982 to the present, I
train and race Standardbred Harness Horse’s at fairs and raceways.
I have been helping my county 4-H PEP (Proud Equestrian’s Program) since
1987, and teaching therapeutic riding since 1992. In 1997 I
attended the first driving certification workshop and was certified for
Therapeutic Driving. I have helped the NARHA Driving Committee since
1995 setting standards and designing how the workshops are run today.
Other certifications and responsibilities include: NARHA Driving
Committee Chair for 2005-2006, NARHA driving workshop evaluator, NARHA
Riding Instructor, and 4-H & Cheff Center Riding Instructor.

I have
been driving and starting driving horses for about 15 years. I currently compete
a Morgan mare at Preliminary level in CDE's. I attended the third driving
certification at Gloria Austin's in Florida and returned to start the driving
program at Project RIDE in Elk Grove, CA from 2000 to May of 2006, teaching
driving to over 100 students per year of all ages with a wide variety of
disabilities. In 2004 I organized the first ever West Coast driving
certification and I continue to mentor those interested in therapeutic driving.
I have served for several years on the driving committee and am very optimistic
about the future of therapeutic driving at NARHA. |
