Barbara Heine has presented numerous AHA Approved Courses at all levels in
addition to specialized horse handling courses tailored to suit the needs of
individual programs. Barbara is a dynamic speaker with a wealth of personal
experience in all aspects of running a hippotherapy program. Barbara is equally
competent to speak on the principles and application of hippotherapy at
Introductory or Advanced levels and all aspects of the hippotherapy horse.

Speaker Profile:
Barbara Heine is an Australian Physiotherapist with an extensive background in
training horses and riders. Barbara lived in California, USA, from 1988 to 2000
and it was there that she became involved in Hippotherapy. She was the Executive
Director of the National Center for Equine Facilitated Therapy in Woodside,
California for 11 years. During that time she developed their hippotherapy
program into the largest NARHA accredited Hippotherapy program in the USA.
Speaker Experience:
Barbara served on the Board of Directors of the American Hippotherapy
Association (AHA) for 6 years and was President from 1997 to 2000. She is a
member of the AHA faculty and in this capacity has presented numerous workshops
on Hippotherapy in Australia, New Zealand, USA and Russia. Barbara is a
certified Clinical Specialist in Hippotherapy and has been a member of the
American Hippotherapy Certification Board since its foundation in 1998. She is a
consultant to RDA Hippotherapy throughout Australia. Barbara has written and
produced 7 educational videos on various aspects of Hippo therapy and the Hippo
therapy Horse. Several of these videos are included in AHA approved curricula
and have been sold to programs and individuals in over 15 countries. Barbara
moved back to Australia in November 2000 but spends extended periods annually in
the United States.
